How I Built My Business

How I Built My Business

For those of you that are not aware I have my own Makeup business. It's a company called Younique. It's a naturally based skincare and make up line thats motto is to Uplift, Empower, and Validate women. I originally joined this company to "get the kit" and the discount until I went inactive.

I had ABSOLUTELY no intention on selling it whatsoever. As luck would have it, I fell in love with the company and the products. I started bragging to everyone I knew and I started selling, without even meaning to.

When I unexpectedly lost my job I had no income. My only hope was this business. So in between job applications I researched how to market on social media. I shared my love for the company and my business started to grow.

My success did not go unnoticed! I had haters knocking at my door, including my boyfriend of 6 years. I was upset and felt defeated. I couldn't understand how he could hate something I love. I never really wore makeup before this company. After a lot of restless nights I figured it was because he felt threatened. Not about me wearing makeup, but my newly found sense of determination and self confidence.

Sadly we are still working things out. I am not sure if things will ever go back to the way they were or how much longer our relationship will last.

What I can say is I am happy to find this out about him now. Before marriage and kids are involved. I am happy that at 22 I am finally learning about myself and growing as a person. I thought I figured all this out during my 4 years of collage, but I was wrong.

Truth is I wasn't happy at my previous job and I could have easily ended up stuck there for a long long time. The pay was good the hours were nice, but I wasn't making a difference in the world, in the lives of others.

While life may be hard now I know good things are in my future.

DISCLAIMER:

I do not use this blog to advertise my business and I do not plan on it. But for those of you that are interested my website is:

Failure...

Failure

Why does no one warn you about failing in life? The truth is almost everyone will fail at something in one point or anther.

Here is my story and how I used y losses to make me stronger!

I was recently fired rom a job I thought I was doing great at. i was told daily I was doing a good job and had even been told "I was the best person ever hired in that position." I put all my effort in, arriving early and staying late. This was a salary job so no overtime pay for me.

I even asked every so often how I was doing and if I should improve anything. After being reassured I bought a new car. My first one I would ever have to make payments on.

My 90 day review came and I was excited for the feedback. I was fired on the spot. Without much reason or explanation besides my "Personality didn't fit the position."

This was by far the hardest blow to my ego. I was completely blindsided. At first I thought it was some sort of joke. After asking again to make sure I herd what was said correctly I stood up and left.

I have been looking for a job ever since. I have been jobless for about a month and I apply to tons of jobs everyday.. It  was a bad time to be fired, right before the holidays when no one in really hiring. I recently graduated with a Bachelors from UCONN. So now I'm also finding our what it means to be "over qualified" something I thought of as a myth previously.

So what did I do about it?

I cried for about a week straight. I am the type of person that puts everything into their job and have always seemed to excel at them.

I began to hate myself, the world, my old boss.

Then something hit me one day! I knew that I would never get a straight answer as to why I was let go  but I decided at that moment I would not let it define me as a person. I told myself that sometimes you have to be knocked down to really learn what you are made of.

I have a makeup business. I did it for fun and started to really promote it hoping to have some sort of income. I gained much needed support form my sponsor and my team.  It helped me to received a new outlook on life.

I decided that I was going to help as many women as I possibly could. Help them to realize how special they are. What they are talented in. But most of all that they can succeed and they will. Maybe not at first but if they keep at it they can make their dreams come true.

The most important thing to remember is to not give up. Giving up ensures failure. It ensures anger and sadness. It's a dark and lonely place that is incredibly hard to get out of.

My advice? Find your passion. If you once knew but lost it, rekindle it. Find something you love and deeply care about and put all your effort into it. Ignore the haters that will come with success and just do it.
For me it was helping others. What is your passion?

Believe in Yourself. An introduction to my Blog

Success! Something to Strive For!

How many times are we told to believe in ourselves? To trust our instincts? To make our dreams come true?

Some may say never and some may say everyday. No matter where you come from or where you grew up these are import things to keep in mind.

So your probably thinking… Well yea I already knew that so what's the point?

I grew up in a household where I was told these things often. At home, at school, and even though my daily cartoons. The problem? I was told so much it didn't really have any meaning to me. These words meant  nothing.

It wasn't until I took a step back and took time to discover who I really was and what I really wanted to do with my life.

I discovered that my goal in life was going to be to help inspire women to be their best selves and to make their dreams come true.

I have been through so much in such a short amount of time I wanted to take the time to teach you what I have learned, in hopes that you won't have to go through the same obstacles I had to.

This is me. This blog is emotional, it's real, and it's powerful.

If this blog is not for you no worries!

Please do not bring in negativity. There is so much in this world already I want to fill this space with positivity.

That is not to say that hard sad stories and truths won't be shared here. They absolutely will. I encourage you to share your experiences in the comments.

I hope everyone enjoys this journey we are about to embark on together.
